Healing Hearts started as what I thought was going to be one painting about transformation in the world as it sees the goodness and glory of God. What it ended up becoming is a series of paintings that speaks about the healing process that takes place when we allow God into the broken places of our hearts.
I don't believe this series is over yet, but I have already seen the transformation and healing that God has brought to my artist heart through the creation of these paintings. But they are not limited to myself. God is still speaking. "Kintsugi" The first of the series, "Kintsugi", turned out entirely different from how I thought it was going to be. My initial impression was a heart that is coming out of the darkness and stepping into God's promises. But as it grew closer to completion God showed me the depiction of how the broken pieces of a heart can be picked up and beautifully put back together, better than before. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pieces of pottery by joining them together with lacquer that is mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. The result is a work of art that shows the beauty and history of the pottery. This is what God does with our hearts. He gently takes the broken pieces and repairs them with gold, making them more beautiful in the process. "Heart Bloom" "Heart Bloom" speaks to me of a heart that is becoming rooted and begins to bloom. Our hearts are fertile soil that produces whatever seed is planted into it. As God's promises are planted and begin to take root, our hearts produce the most beautiful blooms. "Dreamer" "Dreamer" is my favorite so far. It is more expressive than the first two, and is a style that I am growing into. "Kintsugi" is a tighter painting style that I believe is a reflection of the timidness of my heart in this process. "Heart Bloom" is a bit looser and more expressive, but its still a little bit timid. "Dreamer" is a free flowing and explosive representation of the freedom and growth my art is experiencing. It expresses a heart that is free to dream and step into the promises that God has put on my heart. These paintings have limitless ways to speak. Feel free to let them speak to you however your heart wants to recieve them.
